Thriving communities
Building thriving and sustainable communities through partnership sits at the heart of our long term strategy. We are motivated by the knowledge that what is good for the local community is also good for our businesses. We also know that we can achieve more to improve the external environment by working collectively with others. That is why we seek to forge strong relationships with community partners including local health authorities, pharmacists and educational bodies.
Our commitment to town and city centre partnerships
Alliance Boots, as a leading international pharmacy-led health and beauty group, operates just under 3,000* pharmacies. This provides us with an opportunity to play a leading role in the regeneration of towns and cities whilst also safeguarding the long term vitality of our businesses. Consequently, we remain committed to supporting the growth and development of effective local dialogue and management.
Making a difference
Boots UK's commitment to managing the external environment goes back to the development of town centre management initiatives in the late 1980s. Today, Boots UK's role and commitment to town and city centre partnerships is no less prominent. In 2008/09 Boots UK contributed around £89,000 to town and city centre partnerships and around a further £250,000 to business improvement districts. Our Boots UK public policy manager sits on the Board of the Association of Town Centre Management, and Boots UK contributes in a number of other ways. For example, Boots UK developed a course, which is run free of charge, to help and support newly appointed town centre managers in their new roles.
