Recognition in the marketplace
In terms of our Health & Beauty retail activities, our corporate social responsibility process is focused on ensuring that what we stand for is accurately reflected in the customer service we provide, the way that we source and transport products, the type of products we have, and how we sell them.
In March 2009, Boots UK received three awards in recognition of ‘brand trust’ following the Readers Digest annual survey, which is now entering its tenth year. Boots UK won the Most Trusted Brand awards for cosmetics, vitamins and suncare products. Continued recognition in this leading survey demonstrates that the Boots brand represents a real benchmark of quality for millions of customers.
Sharing expertise
We believe that sharing expertise and best practice is an effective way to make a sustainable difference for more people. As an example, Boots UK hosts Business in the Community Beacon Days to explain to other companies how we work and give on-site consultation on their waste and energy management.
Working with governments and health bodies
A(H1N1) virus (swine influenza) has been attracting significant attention as the number of cases increases across the world. We have worked hard to educate our employees across the Group regarding this issue, producing regular updates designed to provide our healthcare teams with the most up-to-date information to help and support our customers who may be concerned about the many issues that are being raised in the media. In addition, the Group has put in place detailed contingency plans to mitigate any risk to our people and businesses.
Trust in our products
In our Health & Beauty Division, we have highly regarded and long established product brands such as Boots, No7, Soltan and Botanics. Our product development, packaging and product marketing capabilities are very important but often unrecognised strengths of the Group. We continue to successfully launch exciting products, including most recently No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, the clinically proven skincare product which provides genuine long term anti-ageing benefits.
Award for Soltan
Correo Farmacéutico, the leading weekly Spanish trade magazine for pharmacists, recently named Soltan as best cosmetic sun product at its dermo-cosmetic awards. The winners were chosen by pharmacists who voted online from a number of products chosen by dermatologists.
