Education is one of the many important channels which can help us make a difference to people’s understanding of health issues. As an international pharmacy-led health and beauty group, Alliance Boots is committed to helping improve healthcare in the communities we serve. We also recognise that more often than not, our communities want access to simple information, written in a way that they understand, and in a way that they trust.
Within our business, we have developed a framework which allows each of our principal businesses to provide appropriate support to relevant educational authorities within their area of operation.
Some examples of our work in this area can be viewed via the links below:
Alphega Pharmacy is a leading network of independent pharmacists in Europe. Through the network, we are able to support more than 3,500 independent members across six countries – the Czech Republic, France, Spain, Russia, the UK and our associate in Italy.
The Health Awareness Activities programme is designed to respond to European public health initiatives and increase awareness of various diseases and conditions.
Through the programme we provide professional support to Alphega Pharmacy members in all markets for improved management of patients with chronic conditions and to position the pharmacist as an indispensible player in healthcare. We also help to prepare our members for changes in legislation that formalise their responsibilities as healthcare provider.
ANZAG is supporting 13 non-profit making projects as part of its social campaign ‘Children’s Dreams 2011’.
Pharmacies are very familiar with their local social organisations and projects. They know the people who commit themselves to positive projects and create valuable offerings for the community. These considerations prompted ANZAG to implement a campaign in November 2010 to invite pharmacists across Germany to propose outstanding initiatives from their region for financial support.
The projects had to support the health of children, promote health education through increased physical activity or introducing a healthier diet. An expert body along with representatives from sports, culture and politics selected 13 non-profitmaking projects from the entries. They ranged from children’s hospices, to city district initiatives and the restoration of sports facilities.
The support funds were presented by representatives of ANZAG at the German Pharmacist Ball together with the pharmacists who proposed the winners.
The Children’s Dreams 2011 campaign benefits everyone and the financial support of ANZAG will enable many young people to benefit from major health initiatives; the social projects chosen draw attention to their causes and the pharmacists excel as supporters of local organisations.
For many years Megapharm has offered both basic and advanced training in the specialist field of oncology once or twice yearly for all employees. Those that are new to the business and many other Megapharm employees have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the disease cancer, as well as established and new therapy alternatives and the current environmental and regulatory challenges. The workshops are held by an experienced oncologist and receive very positive feedback from attendees.
